As the Coronavirus pandemic has developed, our management team has evaluated the response from national, state and local leaders in business and government. In light of the Sedgwick County commissioners’ recommended stay-at-home order, we wanted to take a minute to address the current situation and our operational plans during these uncertain times.
Harley-Davidson motorcycles are part of the critical infrastructure of the national transportation system. In times of peace and times of crisis alike, they serve a dual purpose. Not only are they essential modes of transport for individuals and law enforcement, they also provide valuable therapeutic benefits to those who ride. For 117 years, in good times and bad, in war and peace, in prosperity and hardship, Harley-Davidson has embraced the ethos of freedom, individuality, and personal responsibility-the very things that help define us as Americans! Therefore, Twister City Harley-Davidson WILL NOT CLOSE unless we are forced to do so. Our customers comprise the broad spectrum of public life including aircraft workers, teachers, pipefitters, accountants, engineers, welders, preachers and every industry you can imagine and they depend on us to be there for them. Furthermore, doctors, nurses, medical professionals, police officers, first responders and truck drivers also choose to ride Harley-Davidsons to the front lines to serve the public in this epic battle against Covid-19.
Therefore, we commit to you that regardless of what your role is in our community, we are here to serve you!
What we are doing to protect our customers and employees and guests
Using common sense and in accordance with the CDC and KDHE, we are following recommended health practices in our dealership. We are sanitizing all touch surfaces including everything from door handles to the grips on the motorcycles on our showroom floor. As you know, we have a large open space that provides plenty of room for social distancing so we are cognizant of the importance of our space. Though the H-D family is tight-knit and we are used to greeting customers with handshakes and hugs, we’ll be elbow-bumping or avoiding physical contact for the foreseeable future. Of course, we are asking all employees and guests to refrain from coming in if they are feeling short of breath, elevated temperature, or any symptoms of sickness whatsoever.
What you can do
As we face this battle as a nation we encourage our customers not to panic but use common sense and be respectful of your neighbors. If you’ve been exposed or feel symptoms, get tested and stay home. If you haven’t, we encourage you to get outside and keep living life! Enjoy the sun on your face and the wind in your hair (if you still have some!) and the life in your lungs!
Our philosophy
We embrace the culture of Harley Davidson - the tradition, the love of country, of freedom, and our fellow man. We are NOT going to give up when faced with adversity, whether it’s a visible enemy or an invisible one. We will not hide inside and cower and wait for the government to tell us that it’s OK to go out and ride our motorcycle. Truth be told, in 1918 during the Spanish flu pandemic one of the most effective treatments was “sunshine, fresh air and scrupulous standards of hygiene…” In 2020, we believe nothing has changed. So, wash your hands, get out your bike, and go ride! It truly may be the best medicine of all!

In our history, there truly has never been a better time to buy a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle as well as parts, accessories or motorclothes! Some of our customers have been forced into a furlough or layoff situation and now finally have the time to finish their motorcycle. We supply parts and service to various government institutions and critical infrastructure providers. Our sales department works with individuals in critical situations who need to replace their existing motorcycle with a new one as their primary form of transportation. Therefore our sales department will remain open. Our parts and accessories department will remain open to supply safety gear, motorcycle parts and critical items necessary for the safe and enjoyable use of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
